5 things you can do to improve your health

The word "wellness" means the state of actively pursuing health. As I scroll Tiktok or instagram Reels my feed is flooded with "do this" "don't do this" "do this one thing and your life will change forever" etc challenging you to so many different things in your wellness journey.

My goal is to provide you with these 5 things that consolidate a lot of different health information and research in one easy place.

  1. Rest - prioritize your sleep. You can do this by waking up at the same time every day and going to bed at the same time every night. This in turn will improve the quality of your sleep and allow you to recover more efficiently. (even better get your eyes to sunlight as close to waking as possible)

  2. Hydrate - set a daily goal to drink half your body weight in ounces of water. You should try and maintain this intake at an equal rate throughout the day (ie not drinking all at once)

  3. Stress Management - If you're doing EVERYTHING else to improve your health but your stress levels and the way your body responds to stress is out of control-you won't see improvements in how you feel. On a daily basis implement some type of stress management techniques whether it be deep breathing, tapping, cold water immersion, etc.

  4. Exercise - Shoot for 150 minutes per week (3, 50 minute sessions / 5, 30 minute sessions, etc) Don't stress over the details, strength vs. cardio vs. flexibility. Just get moving!

  5. Fuel - nourishment from food is essential for you to feel well thus in turn live well. While I'm not going to advise on nutritional planning (beyond my scope) what I will emphasize is how important it is to consume food in a balanced way.
