Ways to stimulate your vagus nerve

Your vagus nerve is the 10th cranial nerve in your body and it plays a huge role in your body's automatic functions.
When the vagus nerve can't function like it's supposed to our bodies tend to stay in "fight or flight" caused by our sympathetic nervous system.
The following tips are a reset button for your vagus nerve so you can get OUT of fight or flight and back IN your body's resting state.
Deep Breathing: set a timer for 5 minutes and breathe in for 3 seconds followed by breathing out for 6 seconds until the timer goes off.
Gargle water: gargle warm water or mouthwash for ~30 seconds
Cold Water Immersion: At the end of your shower turn the water to cold for ~30 seconds and try to stand completely under the running water. Another option is to place your face in a cold bowl of water for a couple of seconds, at least 3 times.
Exercise: Any form of exercise assists in stimulating the vagus nerve however an aerobic/cardio based exercise is extremely effective in stimulating the vagus nerve due to the necessity of regulating breathing during the activity
